Presentation: Conversation with Lawrence Journal World Editor, Chad Lawhorn
Speaker: Chad Lawhorn has been reporting news in Lawrence since 1992. Before joining the Journal-World, he was editor, publisher and owner of the Lawrence Business Ledger and the Baldwin Ledger newspapers. He has been with Journal-World since 2001, when he sold his weekly newspaper business to the company. Chad served as a city city government and business reporter for the Journal-World from 2001 to 2015, winning numerous awards for his column writing and investigative reporting. He was named the newspaper’s managing editor in June 2015 and editor in August 2016. Lawhorn started a popular daily blog, Town Talk, in 2009. He continues to maintain it, writing about Lawrence business comings and goings, and breaking down city and demographic data. Lawhorn has a degree in journalism from the University of Kansas, and also did some undergraduate work at Emporia State University. He’s a native of the small Kansas town of Melvern, which is about an hour away from Lawrence in Osage County.
